ABOUT EZETHU

About Ezethu Development Trust

A short introduction

The Ezethu Development Trust is a registered and SARS-approved Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), based in the Nelson Mandela Metropole.

The Trust facilitates the development of the Metropole (comprising Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch), for the benefit of its residents, by providing funds to beneficiaries selected and approved by the Trustees for the attainment of the objects of the Trust. The Trust itself does not carry out any public benefit activities.

How the funding works

The Trustees of Ezethu Development Trust, mindful of the difference between Philanthropy (a potential enabler) and Charity (a possible hand-out), consider the Trust to be an enabler. In this way the Trustees believe that the Trust doesn’t necessarily only fund an asset or a project, but rather that it funds the end-product (the beneficial impact on a child, adult, a group or community, or even the entire Metropole).

The Trustees also place emphasis on the funding of wide-ranging and tangible development projects which will have the potential of delivering widespread benefits to the Metropole. In these ways the Trust is committed to developing the Nelson Mandela Metropole for the benefit of its residents.
